Koori Community Caring for Women
Koori Community Caring for Women is a service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and communities to assist in developing strategies on reducing domestic violence and sexual assault. Educators go out to communities. They provide education and information sessions on domestic violence and sexual assault issues, help the community develop ways reduce domestic violence and sexual assault and have information on how women who are subject to domestic violence or sexual assault can get help.
The home office for the service is at Child and Family Health, Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah. There are two part-time staff working in this service. They can be contacted on (02) 6625 0111.
This service is available for communities and women in Richmond Valley.
Aboriginal Antenatal Outreach Program
This program provides care for pregnant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women from very early in pregnancy, ongoing care and education during pregnancy and birth, and care and education in the early period after the baby is born. The service helps women with coordination of, and assistance in, attending appointments with other service providers such as GPs and obstetricians and help pregnant women with any tests that they may need.
The service is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait women who live in the Kyogle and Ballina Local Governmnet Areas. The hom,e office of the service is in Ballina Community Health. ECHIDNA Women's Project
Empowering Communities Holistically in Determining the Needs of Aboriginal people (ECHIDNA). This is a pilot health promotion groupwork project in Lismore for Aboriginal women. It is being piloted in Lismore to start. Staff can be contacted on (02) 6620 7590
