The Tweed Hospital - Pharmacy Department

We dispense specialist prescriptions for certain high cost medication programs, such as those used by transplant recipients and sexual health patients. We do not dispense general PBS prescriptions that can be dispensed by a community pharmacy. Patients are encouraged to phone and order their next supply 48 hours before they plan to collect them to ensure that we have supply. Dispensing fees are charged for most patients according to NSW Health Guidelines. Phone Number for outpatient prescriptions: (07)5506 7420
The department has 6 pharmacists providing 4.6 positions, 5 Pharmacy Technician / Assistants , a Pharmacy Graduate and a Stores Inventory Manager.
We provide a Clinical Pharmacist Service to the inpatients and this involves pharmacists visiting each patient daily and advising the patients, nurses and prescribers on drug therapy issues. We also supply all medications to inpatients via ward cupboards or direct dispensing to the patient.
The Pharmacist Graduate spends a year in the department learning pharmacy practice in order to Register as a Pharmacist.
The 2010 Pharmacy Graduate position will be advertised on the NCAHS Jobs Website from July 31st to Closing Date Aug 14th.
