Lismore Base Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Service
Cardiac Rehabilitation enables people with heart disease to achieve their best physical, social and psychological outcome following an event, and will help to slow or reverse progression of the disease and improve quality of life.
Cardiac Rehabilitation consists of assessment and tailoring an individual education and exercise program to suit your needs. You will need to be committed to changing some aspects of your life, and work together with the dedicated team of professionals to achieve the best outcomes
The team consists of
Registered nurses –how the heart works and risk factors
Physiotherapist – exercise to help stay fit
Dietician – healthy eating
Occupational Therapist – stress management, returning to work
Pharmacist – your medications,
Social Worker –dealing with your emotions,
Your Doctors
Group Program
Each week a group of people will come together to exercise, under supervision of the nurse and physiotherapist, then attend an education session by one of the team. You will be taught how to exercise safely at home, and will be expected record your home exercise, and bring it in for review each week. Group sessions are held on Wednesday and Friday mornings

Heart Failure Programs
These are designed for people whose heart condition interferes with their everyday life, and prevents them living the way they would like to. The program is designed to give some control by teaching better ways to manage your illness and make sure you know what to do in a crisis. Through education and gentle exercise this program will help you achieve the best outcome you can.
