Lismore Base Hospital - Emergency Department
24 hour service.
All clients are triaged on arrival and seen according to clinical need.
Triage is the process of "sorting patients" according to the urgency of their illness or injury on arrival at a hospital Emergency Department. Triage is done by an experienced and specialised Triage Nurse as soon as possible after the patient arrives in the Emergency Department. Patients are "triaged" on the basis of the speed with which they need medical attention. For some clients with less serious problems there may be quite long waits in Emergency as naturally, those with more urgent conditons must be prioritised.
