Bereavement Support Services
SIDS New South Wales offers Bereavement Support Services to provide ongoing support to families who have experienced the death of their baby or young child from sudden and unexpected causes. This may include miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, SIDS, accidental death, fast onset illness, and homicide. Consult their website for more information.They are aware that people need different kinds of support at different stages of their bereavement so they offer a range of support services that include the following:
24 hour Telephone Support
Trained parent supporters and counsellors are available to talk with the bereaved and those who support them on this phone line. We provide support and information to parents and families following the death of a child. We can also arrange for information booklets to be sent to families to assist them soon after their loss

Counselling
Bereavement counselling from qualified counsellors is available to individuals and families. Please ring during office hours if you’d like to make an appointment.
Social Workers at your local Community Health centre will also be able to provide support.

SIDS NSW, Parent & Family Support
Parents who have previously had a child or infant die are actively involved in providing emotional support to newly bereaved families. We have trained volunteer parents and grandparents throughout the state who provide invaluable support to the newly bereaved and can visit or talk on the phone.
Support Groups
SIDSnew south wales has regular support groups and coffee mornings. These groups provide bereaved people with an opportunity to share their experiences and to support one another. Groups are also held for the newly bereaved, fathers, grandparents and children.
