After Your Baby Is Born

Once your baby has been born you will undoubtedly have questions on how best to look after him or her. There are many ways of being a parent and each person will bring a unique range of experiences to his/her role.

New  Parents Groups are provided by your local Child and Family Health Nurse and provide excellent information on topics such as feeding, settling, sleeping and adjusting to being a parent. These groups are an excellent way to meet other new parents in your area and often lead to forming a playgroup with ongoing friendships and support.

For Individual parenting education and support please contact your Child and Family Health Nurse at your local Community Health Service.

For consultation or referral with a Child and Family Therapist or Counsellor please discuss with your Child and Family Health Nurse.

Specialist programs such as Postnatal Depression, run by Counsellors and Therapists, are offered from time to time. Please make enquiries at your local Community Health Centre.
