Preparation for Parenting

Becoming a Parent is a time of great joy, and also a time of huge changes both physically and emotionally
To assist you during your pregnancy, birth and after the baby is born, the NCAHS offers both group programs and one-on-one personalised sessions with either the Midwives in the Maternity Units or the Child and Family Health Nurses who are based in the Community Health Centres
Preparation for Parenthood Programs
These programs provide relevant, current information for pregnant women, their partners and support people.
Each program aims to provide an environment in which you will gain knowledge and skills so you can make informed choices during your pregnancy, at the birth, and after the baby is born.
Topics include: emotional and physical changes in pregnancy, stages of labour, when to come to hospital, breastfeeding, the newborn baby, parent crafting, postnatal adjustment for the family, community resources, birthing suite tour
