Information For Carers
Looking after someone can be rewarding but can also be exhausting and may seem never ending. Some carers have support but many feel very much alone. Palliative care provides support for carers as well as patients.
Palliative care can arrange respite for carers of registered patients through the Carer Respite service. Respite is a break from the responsibility of looking after someone. It may be for a few hours, a day, a night or even weeks. Respite is a way of relieving the stress of being a carer. If you are a carer, making time for yourself is important for your own health and wellbeing. (Far North Coast Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre – Linking Carers To Respite).
