Grafton Nursing Life :: Within Two Hours

The North Coast of Australia is the ultimate playground for those who love the outdoors. Within an hours drive of Grafton there are miles of rivers and beautiful beaches, World Heritage National Parks and the coastal city of Coffs Harbour.

Yuragir National Park

The Clarence valley is at the southern end of the Northern Rivers Region of NSW in “Big River Country”. There are abundant opportunities to explore, boat, swim and fish in the many river systems within the area. Just 40 km south-west of Grafton is the beautiful rural village of Nymboida, where you can enjoy a sumptuous meal or drink at the 4-star hotel overlooking the Nymboida River. For the adrenalin lovers Nymboida is the home of an internationally acclaimed white water rafting course, or you can explore the national park and maybe spot a platypus.

Iluka Nature Reserve, A World Heritage Rainforest Area and Washpool and Gibraltar Range World Heritage National Parks are also an easy drive.  About 40 kms to the south of Grafton, bordered by the Yaraygir National Park is the biggest stretch of undeveloped coast line in NSW at Wooli and Minnie Waters.

Located on the Pacific Highway, Grafton is an easy drive north to Byron Bay and the Rainbow Region, where you can experience the alternative natural lifestyle of colourful markets, secluded beaches, exciting nightlife and innovative cuisine. Coffs Harbour is an hour’s drive where you can enjoy secluded beaches and the Solitary Islands Marine Park or indulge in some shopping. On the way to Coffs, why not stop at Glenreagh, a delightful country village home to the Glenreagh Mountain Railway and Historical Museum where you can catch a ride on the steam train.

Gibraltar National Park

A 3 ½ hour drive north will get you to Brisbane CBD, and the university campuses UNE (Armidale) and SCU (Lismore and Coffs Harbour) can all be reached within 2 1/2 hours, providing good opportunities to further your education. Grafton is linked to major cities by air, rail and bus services.
