About the facility

The hospital serves the community who live in, and visit, the southern end of the Byron Shire.
Over a million visitors pass through Byron Bay each year and this contributes to the activity
within the services of the hospital especially the Emergency Department.

Hours of operation

Community members and visitors who require acute health care have access to Hospital
inpatient and emergency services 24 hours per day seven days per week.
Non acute services can be accessed Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 5 pm.

Services offered at the hospital include

  • emergency,
  • general medical,
  • palliative care,
  • birthing,
  • day surgery and
  • chemotherapy for oncology patients.

The hospital is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
'Booking In' clinics occur weekly for day surgery patients and are held at the hospital

The program consists of a 12 month contract.

The new graduate program provides:

  • Three days general and nursing orientation conducted at ward/area level
  • Orientation program, workshops and ward/unit based in service education
  • Clinical guidance and support at ward/unit level by preceptors
