Posted: 26 October, 2009
“This is a very special and unique Conference,” said Vahid Saberi, Chair of the Conference Organising Committee and North Coast Area Health Service (NCAHS) Executive Director, Population Health Planning and Performance.
Mr Saberi said “NCAHS is proud to be the host for this year’s Conference, which is the only Conference of its kind in rural NSW.”
“The Colloquium is designed to provide an opportunity for rural health professionals, researchers and the University sector to get together and share research and innovation to improve rural health.”
Given that health resources are finite, it is more crucial than ever for us to deliver health services that we have evidence for and are confident of their benefits.
One unique aspect of this Conference is that it is the rural Clinicians who are doing the research, gathering the evidence and along the way, changing practice and improving services.
“The 2009 Conference has a distinguished line up of eminent researchers including Professor Jane Farmer from Scotland, Professor Lesley Barclay, Dr Tony Lembke, Professor Sally Redman and Professor Brian Kelly. All of whom have achieved prominence in their field of research,” Mr Saberi said.
In addition to keynote sessions by outstanding Researchers, the Conference will have over 40 rural Researchers and Clinicians presenting their work in the form of papers, workshops and posters.
The Colloquium is an initiative of the NSW Institute of Rural Clinical Services and Teaching (IRCST) and the Australian Rural Health Research Collaboration (ARHRC) with support from NSW Health, Northern Rivers University Department of Rural Health and Charles Sturt University.
