Our Kids And Telstra Holding Hands For Six Years

Posted: 21 October, 2009

Our Kids and Telstra are proud to have signed a new Gold Sponsorship Agreement, extending the long-term association between the two organisations into its sixth year.

Our Kids raises funds for lifesaving medical equipment through community donations and events held throughout the year and works to raise the awareness of children’s health needs.

Through events and projects, Our Kids raises the much needed funds to purchase the lifesaving equipment.

“Our Kids could not do what we do without our valued Supporters who year after year come on board and be a part of the Our Kids family,” said Rebekka Battista, Our Kids Fundraising Coordinator.

Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for the NSW North Coast, Michael Sharpe, said “Telstra’s ongoing sponsorship will help Our Kids continue to improve health services for children in the Northern Rivers area.”

“Our Kids supports local families and their children by purchasing vital medical equipment for Lismore Base Hospital, which allows them to remain in the local area instead of travelling to major centers such as Sydney or Brisbane for hospital treatment.

"Telstra has a long and proud history of supporting the NSW North Coast and this sponsorship will help ensure Our Kids can continue to purchase vital medical equipment for the paediatric wards at Lismore Base Hospital and raise awareness of children’s health issues.

Ms Battista said, “I am very happy Telstra has again committed financial and in-kind support that will help make a difference to the support and services Our Kids provide across the region.“

"We are extremely proud to reach this significant milestone with Telstra - six years is a remarkable partnership in times when donations and charitable support nationally is down," Ms Battista said.

"Our partnership with Telstra allows us to perform at the highest possible level and produce support services that are relevant to local families that enrich the experiences of families in otherwise difficult times across the region and not just in the major hospitals," Ms Battista said.

Over the past year, Telstra has invested more than $115,000 in the NSW North Coast through a range of business, sporting, educational and philanthropic initiatives including grants for local schools and sporting clubs.
