Mensline Free Telephone Counselling Service
7pm - 11pm every night on 6622 2240
The service is basically for men, but they do take calls from women seeking advice, especially relating to relationship breakdown and violence from their partner.
Men'sline is a diverse group of ordinary men who are aware of the problems faced by men in today's society. They believe in the importance of having someone to talk to if you are experiencing family relationship breakdowns, ill health grief, despair, or just find yourself devoid of feelings or unable to express or communicate your feelings to others. Many of the Men’sline Counsellors know the problems of being fathers, or the emotional turmoil of relationship break-up, for they have been there!
Given a chance, men need to talk and feel their way through things, and with support, many callers find solutions to their problems and find that they are not alone.
Men'sline is a free offers a professional service with complete confidentiality, on first name basis only. Callers are not allowed to identify themselves except for first names. Men'sline is not, and doesn't try to be, another welfare organisation, rather they operate on a personal level. With many of their counsellors at one time or another having been a caller to Men'sline and wanting to put something back.
This is their strength, a peer support system, by 'ordinary' men who have an understanding and capacity for care, mutual support and insight into each other's feelings and experiences of life.
