Salary Packaging and Government Entitlements
A value for fringe benefits is reported on your Group Certificate (now called 'Payment Summary"). You do not pay income tax on this amount. However, government departments do take this amount into account. For example, we are advised by the Tax Office that reportable fringe benefits are included when calculating Child Support Payments. Centrelink has also advised that, for the purposes of Family Tax Benefit, Youth Allowance and some pensions, reportable fringe benefits are included in the income calculations.
