Respecting the Rules
Smoking - THE HOSPITAL IS A SMOKE FREE ZONE.
In line with Health Authority warnings and Government Legislation Lismore base Hospital is a smoke free zone. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the site and certainly not round dorrways or on the verandahs at any time.
Alcohol
Alcohol must not be brought on to the premises or consumed there by patients or visitors without obtaining permission from Hospital Management.
Illegal Substances
The Law prohibits the use of illegal substances by patients or visitors. The Management and Staff of the Hospital have no choice but to report any patient or visitor found using illegal substances to the Police. Where appropriate and possible, patients found using illegal substances will be discharged into the care of the police.
Threatening and Abusive Behaviour and Language
This hospital will not tolerate violence, physical aggression or verbal abuse towards its staff. If this occurs, legal action will be taken.
Aromatherapy Oils, Incense and candles
Fire and hospitals don't mix so please respect our fire safety rules and don't use any of these items.
Non patient Areas
For your personal safety, security and confidentiality reasons, patients are not permitted in designated non-patient areas. These include storerooms, utility rooms, offices, operating theatre and ward desk and emergency department desk areas. Patients are also requested not to enter other patients' rooms unless specifically doing so to visit another patient.
Security
All buildings are secured after hours including doors to the verandahs. Patient access to outside areas is not permitted after hours because of the security risks to staff and patients.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones are not permitted to be used in the hospital as they can interfere with electronic medical equipment and computer systems used by the hospital
Toilets
For health reasons we ask that visitors only use the designated public toilets.
Please make sure that visitors don't use patient toilets including ensuites.
