Accomodation for Relatives

 

LionLimited hospital accommodation is available for relatives of patients. It is allocated on the basis of need. Priority will be given to emergency accommodation needs.The final decision on allocation of accommodation rests with the Bed Manger.

Please direct all enquiries about accommodation for relatives to the Main Reception Desk located in the entrance foyer on level 4 (street level).

Types of Accommodation

Crawford House : Eight single rooms with communal lounge & cooking facilities located on the 5th floor of the administrative block.

Lions Club Units : Two fully self contained units (can accommodate up to 4 people) located at the rear of the hospital that were built by the Lismore Lions Club.

Hospital Units : Two rooms with ensuites located at the rear of the hospital cafeteria.

Fees

$17 per person per night.

Weekly rate of $34 is available after 7 days.

Aweekly rate of $17 per week is available for mothers of babies in the Special care Nursery. The discounted weekly rate is available provided the occupant maintains the room. Domestic services staff will clean the room and supply clean linen once a week.

Any financial difficulties with payment of accommodation fees can be discussed with a Social Worker. Please do not hestitate to ask staff to contact a Social worker for assistance if needed.

Payment

Payment to be made on checking in and each day by 10am.

Keys

Keys must be returned to the main reception desk on checking out. Checking out time is 10am.

Bookings

Preliminary bookings can be made in advance but must be confirmed on the day. As rooms are allocated on a priority basis, availability is not guaranteed. bookings can be madein person at the main reception desk or by phoning 02 6620 2221.

Valuables

The hospital does not accept resposibility for any valuables. In your absence, the room should be locked to protect your belongings and hospital property.

Parking

Parking is available in the public car park situated behind the hospital. This car park can be accessed from Weaver and Hunter Streets.

No Smoking

Smoking is not permitted within relatives accomodation, lifts or other hospital buildings.

Servicing

Occupants are responsible for making their beds and washing up any crockery/utensils they use. A washing machine and clothes dryer is provided for your convenience for the washing of personal clothing.

Meals

Occupants may purchase meals from the Staff cafeteria on Level 3. Cafeteria staff will request a room key to be produced as proof of occupancy. Meals are available for purchase at reasonable prices. Cafeteria hours : Breakfast 7.30am - 8.30am Mon to Friday . On weekends breakfast can be purchased from the Coffee lounge. Lunch 12pm -2pm 7 days. Dinner 5pm - 7pm 7 days.

Telephones

Contact with the wards or the hospital switch is available via the internal phone system. Internal phones are provided in or near rooms for this purpose only. Please advise ward staff of the extension number of your nearest internal phone to assist in reaching you quickly if required.

Public telephones (coin and pre-paid card operated) are located throughjout the hospital and near the main hospital foyer . A coin operated public phone is available in Nesbitt Cottage. Phone cards can be purchased from the Coffee Lounge.

Safety

In the case of fire or other emergency, refer to the procedures set down on the Fire Plan located in the corridor next to the internal phone. Please familiarise yourself with the location of the internal phone, emergency numbers and evacuation procedure.
