Parking and Transport

PARKING

There is very limited parking available near the hospital. Some areas of Uralba Street are restricted parking areas and are closely policed.

Patients are advised that parking may be available in Hunter Street and in the car park between Hunter and Weaver Streets.

There is a patient/visitor "drop off /pick up zone" at the front of the hospital with a limited number of short stay (15minutes) parking spaces.

A disabled parking space is also available at the front of the hospital.

Please be considerate to others when using the "drop off /pick up zone" and short stay parking.

If you are a patient attending the Renal Unit, Cancer Care Unit or the Pre-Operative Clinic please ask staff about special parking arrangements.

We recognize that the lack of parking facilities for patients, visitors and staff is an issue. This has been identified in our patrient satisfaction surveys. We are unable to do more to address this in the short term as we have no more geographical space available. Long term, off street parking for public access to the hospital has been incorporated into the Lismore Base Master Plaaning Project undertaken in 2002/2003.

TRANSPORT

It is each patient's responsibility to organise their own transport home from hospital.

If you were transferred to Lismore Base Hospital from another hospital within the Northern Rivers health Service via ambulance, it is still your resposibility to organise your transport home from Lismore base on discharge.

If you are unsure of your expected length of stay in hospital, please ask your Doctor or Pre-Operative Clinic staff.

There are Lismore City bus route stops located at the front of the hospital. please check local timetables.

If you require a taxi on discahrge, there are public telephones located on the level 4 (street level) or front reception staff can assist you with contacting local taxi services.
