The work will be undertaken by Bennett Industries, a firm with extensive experience in local public works construction. NCAHS Chief Executive, Chris Crawford, said the upgraded ED will result in three additional assessment and treatment areas, which have been designed and equipped in accordance with current healthcare guidelines. "This is the first stage of an interim upgrade to Grafton Base Hospital"s ED and follows the increased patient load of recent times, “ Mr Crawford said. “The Hospital treats patients from throughout the Clarence Valley as well as visitors to this popular part of NSW and this is a further step in the continuing upgrade of the facility. “It is sometimes forgotten that the Grafton Base Hospital budget has increased by over $11.0 million, or 64.0%, over the last five years and by over $7.0 million, or 36.0%, over the last three years”. During the upgrading, interim access arrangements to the ED have been made for members of the public and the NSW Ambulance Service. These are clearly signposted on the site and can also be viewed, along with a plan of the works, via the links located in the right-hand column of this page. Vehicle access to the Emergency Department for the public has not changed. Vehicle access is via the usual driveway entry off Arthur Street. | Architect's Drawings
