Nutrition & Physical Activity

Healthier people now and in the future

Australians are living longer than ever before. To ensure we get the most out of life, it is important to look after ourselves and our families so we remain healthy and happy for as long as possible.

For a long time health systems around the world have focused on treating sick people, but as we all know, prevention is much better than cure.

With the right information, every one of us can take steps to reduce our chances of developing chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes and dveleop healthy eating habits in our children.

The Nutrition and Physical Activity (NUPA) team from the North Coast Area Health Service focuses specifically on this area of prevention. The NUPA team has developed a wide range of programs that promote healthy eating and physical activity. These programs will achieve better health outcomes for populations and communities of people through a multi-pronged, evidence based approach.
