Water

Good quality drinking water is vital for good health.  In the North Coast region Local Water Utilities (LWU's) and Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) closely monitor water quality via a centralised database system that allows for water quality measurements to be compared with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

The Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) developed by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in collaboration with the Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council (NRMMC) incorporates the "Framework for the Management of Drinking Water Quality" and provides the guidance on what constitutes good quality drinking water.

The ADWG is subject to an ongoing revision process that ensures the Guidelines represent the latest scientific evidence in relation to good quality drinking water.

Please find more information relating to drinking water supplies at NSW Health Website.

Additional information can be found at the website of Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability (DEUS).
