A Healthy Environment
Environmental health hazards in the environment on the North Coast can be from various sources such as from domestic, industrial, agricultural and/or naturally occurring sources.
Hazards could be from microorganisms, chemicals, or radiation in our soil, water, air, food and wastes.
Public Health Unit (PHU) and local Council Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) in consultation with NSW Health Environmental Health Branch, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), part of the Department of Environment & Conservation (DEC) determine and assess risks of such hazards and communicate that information to the public.
Further information on building and industry hazards please see the NSW Health website.
