Food Borne Illness

Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) may have a role in the investigation of food borne illness in the community.

Food poisoning can occur with any food, whether it's manufactured, prepared at home, at school, or at the local supermarket, takeaway outlet or restaurant. The risk of food poisoning can be virtually eliminated if the food is properly handled, stored correctly, cooked to the correct temperature and eaten soon after.

Further information on food safety can be accessed from your local Council or the NSW Food Authority.

If you have a concern about the safety of food which you have purchased or you believe it has made you ill, please call the NSW Food Authority on 1300 552 406 or Email: contact@foodauthority.nsw.gov.au or further information can be obtained from the NSW Food Authority website.

Or contact your local council.
