Position Description
Purpose of Role:
Practicing and promoting safe, efficient and effective nursing care. Fostering an atmosphere conducive to open communication, problem solving and team building. Assisting, supporting and guiding the education of patients and their relevant support persons. Supervising the clinical practice of Students. Assisting, supporting and guiding the education and development of Trainee Enrolled Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and fellow Registered Nurses. Promoting Evidence Based Practice and Continous Quality Improvement within the ward/unit. Participating in the development and evaluation of Evidence based Clinical Pathways. Participating in health care planning, practice and evaluation. Upholding the policies of the North Coast Area Health Service. Ensuring compliance with legislative requirementts. For example - The Poisons Act, Coroners Act, Mental Health Act, Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety Act and Independent Commission Against corruption regulations. Ensuring appropriate steps are taken in relation to problem solving regarding patient, family and staff grievances according to Area Health Service policy.
Role Responsibilites:
Essential Criteria
- Registered with the Nurses and Midwives Board (NSW) or ability to acquire same under the Mutual Recognition Act.
- Recent nursing experience in acute clinical service.
- Demonstrated clinical problem solving skills to maximise patient care.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to plan and coordinate patient care in a multidisciplinary team environment providing outcome based care.
- Availability to participate in a seven day rotating roster (including public holidays).
- Understanding of Aboriginal health needs and culture.
- Demonstrated Computer skills.
