Position Description
Purpose of Role:
* The efficient and effective delivery of Patient services in accordance with North Coast Area Health Service and Ballina Hospital policies and standards, community needs and within budget allocation
* Performance of clinical duties and responsibilities at a senior level with minimal clinical supervision
* Effective working in partnership with all service partners so that integrated and networked services are delivered that facilitates patient care and working partnerships.
* The provision of safe, appropriate, patient focussed, outcome directed, coordinated quality care that meets professional standards and is based on best practice standards
* Full assessment and care of all patients presenting to the Emergency.
* Appropriate referral and continuing care for all patients.
* Response to inpatient Emergencies.
* Escort of some seriously ill patients to referral Hospital.

Essential Criteria
- MB BS or Equivalent.
- Current Unconditional Registration with NSW Medical Board.
- Minimum six years post graduate experience as a Medical Officer. Minimum three years Post Registration experience in Emergency Department Medicine.
- Relevant Post Graduate Qualifications. EMST or Equivalent.
- Demonstrated capacity to perform clinical duties and responsibilities at a senior level with minimal clinical supervision.
- Demonstrated competency in: - Patient Care for all triage categories, all ages - Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation - Airway management - Early management of severe trauma, Head and Spinal Injuries - Management of Medical, Surgical and Obstetric Emergencies - Management of Paediatric Emergency presentations - Assessment and Management of Acute Psychiatric presentations
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe effective patient care, working independently and without direct Supervision. Demonstrated ability to work in multi disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills.
