Early and Brief Intervention
Early intervention refers to screening and assessment to identify problematic drug and alcohol use. Research evidence supports the efficacy of early intervention for those at risk of developing problems. It can motivate individuals to change their behaviour. Specialist drug and alcohol services have a particularly important role to play in supporting interventions by non-specialist workers.
Early intervention is a core role of many drug and alcohol staff, and dedicated workers are located in Coffs Harbour and Kempsey.
