Outpatient Detoxification

Out-patient detoxification treatment involves the provision of health care to manage the symptoms of drug withdrawal in the patient's home or through visits to an outpatient clinic.

Outpatient detoxification treatment is available from specialist D&A services in Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Kempsey. They can be contacted on 1300 662 263 line during normal business hours.

Outpatient Detoxification services provide;

  • An assessment for people requiring a drug and alcohol withdrawal
  • Management of withdrawal in a community setting (at home or outpatient clinic)
  • Linking with medical treatment, counselling and other support to assist clients through withdrawal
  • Information and support to carers and other health professionals.

Detoxifying at home will involve;

  • As assessment by the detoxification nurse at the drug and alcohol clinic.
  • An assessment by a general practitioner or other medical officer
  • Home visits by the community detoxification nurse for the purpose of providing regular monitoring, support and management as you progress through the stages of withdrawal.
