Podiatry
Podiatry is the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot and lower limb disorders. Foot and lower limb problems can be localised or part of another systemic disorder (e.g. diabetes).
The aim of Podiatry services is to improve mobility and enhance the independence of individuals by the prevention and management of pathological foot problems and associated morbidity.
This is achieved by providing advice on foot health, education, assessment and diagnosis of foot pathology, identification of treatment and other requirements, referral to other disciplines as appropriate, formulation of a care plan and provision of direct care as deemed appropriate and agreed to by the individual.
