Counselling for Children and Families
Child and Family Counselling Services aim to increase child and family functioning and well-being.
Psychologists and Social Workers provide a range of services that address cognitive, emotional and psychological issues or risks that impact on children or families. Services offered may vary slightly from site to site but generally include:
- assessment
- counselling/therapy
- referral
- health education and promotion
- educational and therapeutic group work, and
- consultancy services.
Child and Family Counselling services work collaboratively with other health and welfare services and participate actively in the Families First initiative, which is a whole of government approach to improving outcomes for children and families.
