Child Protection (PANOC)
'PANOC' stands for Physical & Emotional Abuse & Neglect of Children.
PANOC child protection counsellors have a unique client base. All clients are referred by the Department of Community Services, who have identified children who are registered clients of that service. These children’s situations have been investigated and physical, emotional abuse and/or neglect has been proven and clients are being supervised by the Department.
PANOC counsellors also provide training to and consultation with Health staff and the community. They participate in a number of community committees.
Located in all major community health facilities within the North Coast Area Health Service, the PANOC service works with children 0 to eighteen and their parents/carers where physical and/or emotional abuse and/or neglect has been substantiated by the Department of Community Services.
