HEARTNET: A New Online Community for Heart Patients and Carers

The Heart Foundation and Edith Cowan University (WA) have developed a special support website for heart patients and their carers. HeartNET is the first of its kind in Australia - allowing all heart patients, carers, friends and family to communicate with each other.

There are therapeutic benefits to be gained when patients can communicate with each other – particularly because they can offer mutual support. HeartNET provides an environment where they can swap stories, jokes, recipes and share ideas with people who understand. They can access the site 24 hours a day, 7 days week and by choosing a nickname to use on the website, their identities are protected.

HeartNET is the subject of a broader research project into the nature of online support and secondary prevention.

To gain access to HeartNET please visit their website and register for an account.
