Welcome to the North Coast Area Health Services Aged Services Home Page

The North Coast Area Health Service recognises that the number of people over 65 years is increasing dramatically. For the first time in our recorded history there are currently more Australians over the age of 65 years than under the age of 25 years (ABS, 2004).

The north coast is an attractive destination for retirement and the North Coast Area Health Service has the highest proportion of people aged 65 years and over (18% of the population) compared to the NSW average of 13%. This 65+ age group has the highest projected growth rate. Along with this growth rate comes the increased prevalence and incidence of aged related disease.

The North Coast Area Health Service aims to provide an integrated system approach to encourage and support older members of our community to remain in their own home. Access to aged care services can sometimes be complicated when people do not understand what is available, or how to access services.
